There’s a practice with heart in Whangarei. One that embraces Hauora – wellbeing of the whole person: physical, emotional, spiritual and whanau – or family. It’s looking for a GP who shares this philosophy and is committed to supporting the cultural practices of the people in this community.

THE ROLE
- General Practitioner Locum or Perm
- 2/10 – 6/10 per week
- Maternity leave cover or permanent opportunities
THE PRACTICE and THE TEAM This clinic is very much nurse led where 4x Nurse Practitioners, 4x RNs, 2x Counsellors, a Healthcare assistant and GPs provide mutual support.
The focus is on providing full wraparound Hauora services to a tight knit community with high clinical needs. Equal focus is given to the cultural needs of patients and whanau so a special appreciation of this is essential. A new purpose-built clinic is on its way to being completed.
LOCATION
Whangarei is the northernmost city in NZ and the capital of the northland region. Population close to 102,000, with a wide demographic of ethnicities and cultures. Long summers and mild winters make it the perfect climate for pursuing your interests! Known for aquatic playgrounds, ancient kauri forests, authentic culture, and rich history, there’s so much to explore in Whangarei and the wider northland region.
Whangarei airport offers daily flights to and from Auckland International Airport, otherwise it’s a 3 hour drive to the big smoke. Although some wonder why you’d want to leave.
ABOUT YOU 
You will have current full registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, or be eligible for registration through MCNZ You’ll have a special empathy and cultural awareness You’ll be keen to be part of a committed team making a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the Whangarei community
