 About Clinical Epidemiological Research

You will be responsible for leading and developing the Section of Clinical Epidemiological Research, whose main task is to develop, conduct and translate epidemiological research into improved prevention and treatment of diabetes, complications to diabetes, and other cardiometabolic diseases contributing to developing precision medicine focusing on cardiometabolic disease. The research group currently has 15-20 employees including senior statisticians, senior researchers, postdocs, PhD and thesis students with primarily medical, public health science and mathematical-statistical educational backgrounds.
At present Clinical Epidemiological Research primarily focuses on understanding why people develop diabetes, and why people with diabetes develop diabetes-related complications. The Department takes pride in using state of the art statistical and epidemiological methods in developing risk-stratification and personalized disease management. Thus, some of the main tasks are collecting, compiling, maintaining, and analyzing data from population studies, clinical trials, Danish and international health registries, the latter of which SDCC has a history spanning generations. The research group has a strong methodological focus with a strategy of developing new statistical and epidemiological research methods to ensure optimal use of the constantly increasing amount and complexity of health data. Importantly, our research is closely embedded in the Department of Diabetes Care and reflects the needs of persons with or at risk of diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases.
