Specialist in Pediatrics at Akureyri Hospital

Akureyri Hospital (SAk) seeks to hire a specialist in pediatrics for the children’s ward. The position is available immediately or after further agreement and ranges from 50-100%.

The SAk children’s ward is the only children’s ward in the countryside. It primarily serves residents of the north and east of the country from birth to 18 years of age. The ward includes an inpatient unit with a neonatal unit, a day ward, and a diverse outpatient department. The department handles all general pediatric medicine and newborn illnesses up to intensive care level.

Qualifications

• Valid qualifications in pediatrics and an Icelandic professional license
• Looking for a pediatrician with extensive experience in general pediatrics and basic knowledge in neonatology
• Ability to work in a team
• Professional knowledge and independent working methods will be emphasized upon hiring, along with skills in communication and cooperation
• A demand for integrity, i.e., having a good reputation and that behavior and actions at and outside the workplace are consistent with the job

Tasks and responsibilities

• The position includes on-call duties
• Service to patients at the children’s ward, day and outpatient departments, emergency reception, and maternity ward
• Participation in the training of healthcare professions
• Training of general practice residents and specialist residents, along with opportunities for research work
