The Hospital in Akureyri (SAk) is looking to hire a specialist in anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine. This is a 50-100% position that is available immediately or according to further agreement. Qualifications

• Valid rights in anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine in Iceland
• It is desirable that the applicant has completed courses in specialized resuscitation of adults (ALS) and children (EPLS)
• It would be an advantage to have completed a course in the management of multi-trauma patients such as the European Trauma Course (ETC) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
• A requirement for Icelandic and/or English proficiency corresponding to level C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL)
• Ability to work independently and show initiative
• Communication skills and smoothness in human interactions

Tasks and responsibilities

• The job involves traditional work in anaesthesia and intensive care, anaesthetics at childbirth, and service to patients in the emergency department as needed
• Participation in the teaching and training of students, specialist doctors, and other professional groups along with quality and improvement work
• Possibility of certain quality and research projects in cooperation with the chief physician
• It is desirable that the applicant is willing to participate in medical service for air ambulance
• Other tasks in consultation with the chief physician
