Akureyri Hospital (SAk) is looking for a specialist in emergency medicine – or a specialist with other relevant specialist education. This is a 60 – 100% position available immediately or by agreement.

Akureyri Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides general and specialized healthcare services where emphasis is placed on emergency services and main specialty treatments. The SAk emergency department handles the reception of acutely ill and injured individuals of all ages, with physical as well as mental symptoms.

Qualifications

• Valid qualifications in emergency medicine and an Icelandic professional license. Consideration may be given to other specialist qualifications
• Ability to work independently and in a team with good communication skills
• Ambition to provide outstanding emergency services
• Communication skills and proficiency in human interactions
• A requirement for impeccable character, i.e., having a good reputation and that behavior and actions at work and outside it are compatible with the job.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Reception and treatment of patients with acute illnesses or injuries
• Participation in teaching and training of students, specialist doctors, and other professions along with improvement work
• Opportunities for research and development in cooperation with the chief physician
• Day work and shift work in the SAk emergency department
• The position includes on-call duties
• Participation in team work
• Other tasks in consultation with the chief physician
