Akureyri Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides general and specialized healthcare services with an emphasis on emergency services and main specialty treatments. The SAk emergency room caters to the reception of acutely ill and injured individuals of all ages, with both physical and mental symptoms.

Qualifications

• Valid rights in emergency medicine and an Icelandic work permit. Consideration may be given to other specialist qualifications
• Can work independently and in a team with good communication skills
• Ambition to provide outstanding emergency services
• Communication skills and smoothness in human interactions
• A demand for impeccable integrity, i.e., having a good reputation and that behavior and actions at work and outside it are compatible with the job.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Reception and treatment of patients with acute illnesses or injuries
• Participation in teaching and training of students, specialist doctors, and other professions along with improvement work
• Opportunities for research and development in cooperation with the chief physician
• Day work and shift work in the SAk emergency room
• The job includes on-call duties
• Participation in team work
• Other tasks in consultation with the chief physician
