Medical volunteers needed – Lesbos – minimum of 2 weeks

The medical team of Boat Refugee Foundation is working in refugee camp Moria on Lesbos, Greece, where thousands of people reside often for a long time. The conditions in the camp are dire and harrowing, causing despair and feelings of hopelessness amongst the refugees. Many basic facilities are insufficient, and the camp is severely overcrowded. For you to be able to work in the camp, it is necessary and important to take knowledge of the situation and the effects it causes, like despair and sometimes aggression.

The medical team runs evening shifts located at a medical cabin in the camp, seven days per week. As a volunteer, your shifts consist of running walk-in hours for primary and emergency care. The patients mostly originate from the Middle East, other parts of Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. The variety in complaints is wide; from flu-like symptoms and relatively simple problems to severely ill patients and acute psychological complaints.
